HUITING HERE.

here's my special recipe who no one thought of:]

this dish is actually roti prata plus banana.

the additional of banana is because the dietay fibre in roti prata is not enough. thus, by adding banana or any fruits, you can increase the dietary fibre. so, this unhealthy traditional food can be more healthier.

enjoy this "CUTE"(?) little poster.

The traditional food that i found was the mooncake. The ingredients to make mooncake are: 1 can of lotus seed paste, 1/4 cup of almond flakes, 1/4 cup of raisins, 1 egg yolk, 4 cups of all purpose flour, 3 tablespoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of alkaline water, 1/2 cup of shortening, 1/2 cup of milk powder and 3 eggs.
The recipe :
In a bowl, combine the almond flakes and raisins with the lotus seed paste. Set aside.
Making the dough: In a medium-sized bowl, sift the flour, milk powder, baking powder and salt. Use an electric mixer, beat the eggs on medium speed till you get a light and fluffy texture. Slowly add in sugar and beat till you get a slightly thicker mixture. Add in melted shortening and mix extra 5 mins. Add in alkaline water. Use a spatula, fold in the dry ingredients. You will get a rough doughy like mixture. Pour out the dough on a lightly floured board. Knead it till you get a smooth consistency. Divide the dough into 1/2, roll both 1/2 into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces.
Shaping the mooncake: Lightly grease the mooncake mould and dust inside with flour. Take a piece of dough and roll it into a ball. Roll it out on the floured board. Place 1 tablespoon of filling onto the centre of the dough. Fold in sides to close the fillings. Place the mooncake dough to the mould. Flatten the dough. Strike the counter top with the mould. Repeat till you have 12 pieces. Brush the top with egg yolk. Place them onto an ungreased baking tray. Preheat the oven to medium. Transfer on a cooling rack.

Story behind the traditional food

1st story: Qu yuan , born in 340BC, during the warring states period was the deputy prime minister of Chu state, while drafting foreign policy, he saw the danger passed by the ambitious Qin state. At that time, there were seven states fighting among themselves to unify China. Qu Yuan proposed government reforms and a alliance with the neighboring Qi state as a way to ensure Chu's safety. But the king of Chu did not agree with his stance and Qu Yuan was finally sent into exile for 20 years. Qu Yuan watched his beloved country become weaker and weaker. On the fifth day of the lunar month, he drowned himself in the Milo river, because de despaired for his country's future. During the Duan Wu festival, the day of Qu Yuan's death, people race dragon boats to honous his memory. This festival also represents how the people of Chu tried, at that time, to recover Qu Yuan's body from the Milo river. Zong Zi the pyramid shaped dumplings were thrown in the river to feed the fish, so they would not eat Qu Yuan's body.

Another story behind the traditional food

In ancient China, agriculture was their daily life. Therefore, water was extremely important for their livelihood. People believed that the dragon was the water god that is used for agricultural cultivation. On the day of Duan Wu, people raced dragon boats to entertain the god and treat him with zong zi so that the god would grant them a year of favourable weather.

The symbolism for Zong Zi is...........

Zong Zi wraps up a meal in one
